This format, typical of Music City but wholly unknown to Barcelona, is when three songwriters -- sometimes friends and musical partners, sometimes total strangers -- take the stage together and offer their original songs in the most stripped-down, acoustic format possible. Spontaneous collaborations, audience participation, the story behind the song, sneak previews of brand new and unreleased music... at these concerts anything can happen. It is an opportunity to hear your favorite artists share their music in an intimate setting, and at the same time, discover more music by other talented songwriters.
The concert of the series "Barcelona In The Round" will feature Tori and the two musical collaborators who shared the stage with her the Glass Mountain Records 10th Anniversary Concert at Marula Cafe this past October. Presenting: Carlos Mendoza and Alba Bioque.
Carlos Mendoza is singer and guitarist of the Venezuelan rock band Luz Verde - nominated for a Latin Grammy for their album 'El Final Del Mundo Vol. II: Nothing Is Impossible' - and is is also part of the Rock ’n’ Rumba band Alma de Boquerón. Gifted with an unassuming sense of humor and the stage presence of a true rockstar, Carlos brings an explosive energy to the stage that breaks strings, hearts, and transforms any concert setting into the feeling of a stadium show.
Alba Bioque is a native of Barcelona, a singer and composer with flamenco roots, who has just released her first solo album, 'Alvorigen.' Her golden voice contains an infinite range of expression, from sweet and fragile to passionate and fiery. She can silence a room with just a note. Alba is also sought after as a backup singer: She contributed harmonies to the last album by Tori Sparks + Calamento, 'La Huerta,' the 'Somrius' album by Enricez, and various other projects.
In Marula Cafe they played just a couple of songs each, which left the audience asking for more. In this concert the three artists will present more of their own original material with some surprise collaborations. Prepare for a very special night.

Este tipo de concierto, típico de Music City pero casi totalmente desconocido en Barcelona, es cuando tres cantautores -- a veces amigos y colaboradores, a veces desconocidos -- suben juntos al escenario y ofrecen temas propios en acústico. Es el formato más básico, más expuesto, mas desnudo posible para un artista: Solo o sola con su instrumento y su voz. Colaboraciones espontáneas, la participación del público, la historia detrás de la canción, estrenos de temas recién nacidos... en estos conciertos puede pasar cualquier cosa. Es una oportunidad para escuchar a tus artistas favoritos compartir su música en un ambiente íntimo, y a la vez descubrir otros artistas talentosos.
Tori quería que su primer concierto de la serie “Barcelona In The Round” fuera con los dos colaboradores musicales que han compartido el escenario con ella en su exitoso concierto en Marula Cafe este octubre pasado, donde celebraban el 10e Aniversario de su sello, Glass Mountain Records. Os presenta el Carlos Mendoza y la Alba Bioque.
Carlos Mendoza es guitarrista y cantante de la banda de rock venezolana Luz Verde -- que fuera nominada por los Grammys Latino por su álbum 'El Final Del Mundo Vol. II: Nada Es Imposible’ -- y también de la banda barcelonesa de rumba de autor, Alma de Boquerón. Combina carácter humilde y sentido de humor con la presencia de un verdadero estrella, una energía explosiva en directo que rompe cuerdas, corazones, y transforma cualquier concierto en un concierto de estadio.
Alba Bioque es nativa de Barcelona, cantautora con raíces flamencas, que acaba de sacar su primero disco en solitario, ‘Alvorigen.’ Su voz de oro contiene un rango de expresiones infinitos, de dulce y fragile hasta apasionada y lleno de fuego. Tiene la capacidad de silenciar la sala con solo una nota. Alba tambien es muy buscada como corista: Ha contribuido armonias al ultimo disco de Tori Sparks + Calamento, ‘La Huerta,’ en el ’Somrius' del artista Enricez, y en varios otros proyectos.
En Marula Cafe solo han tocado un par de temas cada uno, les han dejado al publico pidiendo mas. En este concierto los tres artistas os presentaran temas propios, con alguna colaboracion sorpresa. Preparte para una experiencia de musica en directo muy especial.
